Concrete evidence shows natural meat outperforms lab-gown meat: University of California

Lab-grown meat- already sold in supermarkets –hailed as a promising solution for sustainable food production, has now faced a significant setback due to recent scientific findings.

Earlier predictions of lab-grown meat revolutionizing the new cultured industry–also called cellular agriculture– and saving the environment are now being challenged by concrete evidence that shows natural meat outperforms lab-gown meat.

The cuntured meat industry has plans to replace all meat by year 2035, but a recent study by the University of California has revealed that lab-grown meat, in its current form, has a negative environmental impact up to 25 times greater than conventional beef due to the need for toxin removal that required “pharmaceutical-grade” production to ensure it is safe for human consumption.

Specifically, a toxic substance called endotoxin is found on lab-gown met and its removal is crucial, as even tiny concentrations of this substance in the human body — after ingestion– can significantly reduce the success rate of in-vitro fertilization pregnancies in women.

These groundbreaking conclusions come from a group of chemists and food scientists at the University of California. They discovered that the transition from pharmaceutical production to food production poses significant technological risks and challenges.

The main issue lies in the use of highly purified growth organisms to facilitate the multiplication of animal cells in lab meat.

Despite potential savings in land, water, and greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional animal farming, the overall bio-process involved in lab meat production is found to be “orders of magnitude” more environmentally intensive.

Co-author Edward Spang, an associate professor in the Department of Food Science and Technology, warns against viewing cultured meat as an inherently superior environmental option to conventional beef. He states,

“Our findings suggest that cultured meat is not inherently better for the environment than conventional beef. It’s not a panacea.”

The study demonstrates that even under scenarios with lower pharmaceutical standards, traditional beef production outperforms lab-grown meat by a factor ranging from 4 to 25.

The pursuit of new technologies that promise substantial benefits but deliver limited results is not uncommon on this new biotech (lab-gown) meat industry which investors have given large financial backing — on its never ending path to achieving zero environmental impact.

George Monbiot, an environmental writer, acknowledges the challenges associated with lab-grown meat, noting the complex nature of its development and expressing doubt about its feasibility.

“While some countries are pushing for the elimination of conventional animal husbandry, viable alternatives for feeding growing populations are scarce”.

Monbiot raises the crucial question of how to prevent mass starvation, suggesting that discarding conventional meat production in favor of unproven factory solutions may not be the best approach.

The recent California study challenges the growing hype around lab-grown meat, and demostrte yet another overhyped product which has received positive coverage from the mainstream. Less than two weeks, Reuters reported,

Companies producing lab-grown meat say they hope to contribute in the fight against climate change, as producing meat in a laboratory has less impact on the environment than livestock out in a field.”

The Giardian went as far as to cebrate the extinction of conventional animal meat with an article titled, Lab-grown food will soon destroy farming – and save the planet.

Indee, the biotech industry investors will soon destroy farming, the planet will continue to be here, while humans worldwide will starve due to no food.

A simple snap shot of the gold rush the lab-gown meet has generated, we have UNCOMMON, a british-based company which latest funding round was led by Balderton Capital and Lowercarbon Capital. Others investors included Red Alpine, East Alpha, Microsoft’s CEO and investor Sam Altman, Miray Zaki and Sebastiano Castiglioni, among, many others, were listed on USNews a recent article.

In other words, since capital investors have plans to replace all meat by the year 2040. Then is a forgone conclusio that due a absence of genuine democratic institutions and egencies, lab-gown meat and biotech crops are on their to fully replaced ALL of our natural food worldwide.

Currently, the lack of genuine regulation has alrey led countries to have lost all of their natural food. In the Unite States, GMO food accounts for 90% of products in supermarkets– including fruits and vegetables.
