THE IRONY OF U.S. MIGRATION: HATING IMMIGRANTS WHILE THEY COULD SAVE THE U.S. ECONOMY

The USA Facts organization lists some of the many reasons why both political parties in the U.S. are allowing waves of migrants into the country, while publicly they pretend to not understand what is going on: These essential worker migrants are about to help save the U.S. economy by filling in a huge workforce shortage created during the pandemic of more than five million jobs that Americans are reluctant to take.

Two years ago, President of Mexico, Lopez Obrador, warned and reminded the U.S., while visiting the White House, that the U.S. has a big workforce deficit. That’s because baby boomers are currently retiring en masse. In addition, the U.S. has a shrinking population rate (see chart below) even before the pandemic. And to make things worse, a low birth rate was compounded with a high death rate during the pandemic years. Then the 2020 Great Resignation hit, and 10 million Americans resigned their jobs (mostly women). These factors left the U.S. with a dangerously shrinking workforce.

Migrants are practically saving the U.S. But instead of thanking them, Fox News and others are frantically scaring citizens, complaining about an imagined invasion.

With natural population growth down in recent years, immigration is the leading factor in the growth of the country… Census data shows immigration is bolstering population growth for a wide range of areas, from booming Southern states to slow-growing or shrinking states in the Midwest. Immigration is increasingly important to the growth of the US workforce.”– USfacts.org

But no one seems interested in explaining to the public the truth about the serious state of the workforce and its impact on the current economy.

Between 2010 and 2019, all but one state had population growth from immigrants. This is not because immigrants are over-reproducing or there are too many of them, the reason is that for decades, Americans have not been reproducing. https://usafacts.org/articles/where-are-immigrants-moving-to-in-the-us/ via @USAFacts
